I found it the day before and knew I had to get the shot. The cloud was heavy and the snow was beginning to fall again. So being careful not to put my foot prints in the 6” of snow already on the ground, I approached the tree to compose the image. What made the moment even better is that he was completely at ease with my presence. Occasionally, he would look up and sniff in my direction, but otherwise he was happily munching his way across the hillside.
